Fascination with Piłsudski
“I lived in Minsk until 1916 […] The Polish army, i.e. Dowbor’s Corps, was also stationed in Minsk; many friends and relatives who were in the house and whom I met often served there. Thanks to them I came into contact with the legend of Piłsudski; his printed portraits reached both Minsk and Moscow, as did legionary songs. It was then that my fascination with Piłsudski began”, recalls Jerzy Giedroyc in his “Autobiography for Four Hands”.
