Jerzy Giedroyc and Józef Czapski meet in Zurich with Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, who agrees to have The Gulag Archipelago published by the Institute without royalties. The Institute’s publications include Śledztwo (The Investigation) by T. Staliński (Stefan Kisielewski), Gdzie wschodzi słońce i kędy zapada (Where the Sun Rises and Where it Sets) by Czesław Miłosz, and The Gulag Archipelago 1918–1956 by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn.
